Nancy G. Brinker promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. That promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and began the global breast cancer movement. Komen for the Cure is the world's largest network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to empower people to save lives and ensure quality care for all. Events like the Komen Race for the Cure, funding for medical research is possible.

Breast cancer research is a very personal cause for me. My great-grandmother was a breast cancer survivor -- she had a mastectomy back in the late 1950's!! (and lived to be 98 yrs old). I've had my own near miss with a cyst that was removed several years ago, and still feel passionate about helping this incredible cause that saves the lives of so many incredible women.

Whether you run, walk, or simply donate money as one of our team "spirit runners" every role you play is a crucial one. Our goal is to raise at least $450 as a team. We'll be sending out email requests for donations to our best customers and close friends, plus Maternity Boutique plans to donate 3% of our total sales for the month of October to breast cancer research.

1. Go to race.komentidewater.org/goto/maternity_boutique and click "Join Team" above the "Baby Mommas" roster.
2. Complete your registration, and now you are a member of our team.
3. Now what? Here's a few things you can do, and tips on how are available on the Komen Tidewater website.
   • Invite others to join our Team
   • Keep up-to-date with team information
   • Create a fundraising page
   • Send out contribution requests
4. We'll send out updates by email and will pick up registration forms.
5. Stay tuned for where and how we'll meet the day of the race.
